  My family

  I. Teaching aims

  1) Knowledge aims: Students can read and use the words “father, man, that ,dad” and sentence pattern “Who is that man ?/ He is my father.”

  2) Ability aims: Students can learn to introduce others and their’ listening and speaking abilities can be greatly improved.

  3) Emotional aims: Students can learn to communicate and cooperate with others and be interested in English leaning.

  II Teaching key points

  Words: father, man ,that, dad

  Target language: the sentence pattern“Who is that man ?/ He is my father.”

  How to apply the new knowledge into practice correctly.

  Step 1 Warming-up and lead in

  1. Invite some students to sing a song together

  2. Show some pictures of famous stars and ask students to identify them. Then show the family photo to lead in the topic

  Step 2 Presentation and practice

  1 Word learning

  1)Use the photo of family to teach the new words “father, dad, that, man”. For example, ask to look at the photo and teacher points the child and says “This is me” and invite them to guess who is the man. Then the teacher guides students to learn the word “father” and tell them that we can also call father “ dad”. Other words will be taught in the same ways.

  2)After teaching the new words, teacher invites students to read the new words together and then play a “bomb game” to practice the new words.

  2 Sentence learning

  1)Teacher shows another family photo of one students and ask the student who is the man in the photo to present the sentence pattern “Who is that man ?/ He is my father.”

  2) Teacher asks students to do the pair work by using their family photos to practice the sentence pattern.

  3)Teacher invites students to watch the video and role play the conversation on the textbook and then present to the whole class.

  Step 3 Consolidation

  1. Guessing game

  Teacher invites two students to the platform:one shows some pictures of stars or family members randomly and the other one guesses who is the person and then introduce the person to the rest of class. The one who can guess the quickest can get a gift.

  2. Draw and talk

  Teacher divides students in to several groups and invites them to draw their favorite friend and family member and then make a conversation with their group members by using the sentence pattern.

  Step 4 Summary and Homework

  1.Summary

  Teacher invites one student to be “the little teacher ” and summarize the learned words and sentence pattern for others.

  2.Homework

  Teacher asks students to introduce one of their favorite classmates to their parents.
